UNBOUND 2026: Why HubSpot’s Vision for the Partner of the Future Matters for Credit Unions
Not all HubSpot partners are created equal. At UNBOUND, HubSpot's vision for its future partner ecosystem reinforced why Nook is building a different kind of technology partner for credit unions.
At UNBOUND, I joined a VIP focus group at the invitation of HubSpot CEO Yamini Rangan and other leading HubSpot partners from around the world.

Nook CEO Austin Wentzlaff joined HubSpot CEO Yamini Rangan and fellow HubSpot partners for a VIP focus group at UNBOUND 2026.
Yamini shared two characteristics she believes will define the strongest partners of the future:
-
Deep industry specialization: Partners that understand the unique challenges, technology and opportunities within a specific industry.
-
The ability to build and expand the data layer: Partners that can connect, structure and activate the data needed to unlock HubSpot's full potential.
Both closely align with how we've been building Nook. And for credit unions evaluating HubSpot partners, these distinctions are increasingly important.
Industry expertise: There's a difference between serving credit unions and specializing in them
There are plenty of excellent HubSpot partners capable of implementing CRM, building marketing campaigns and configuring automation. Some even have dedicated financial services practices that include credit unions alongside banks, insurance companies, mortgage lenders and other industries.
But there's a significant difference between serving credit unions as one of several industries and building an entire organization exclusively around them.
Nook is the HubSpot partner focused exclusively on credit unions. As a Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO), we've made the deliberate decision to dedicate our entire business to this industry.
That specialization allows us to develop a deeper understanding of credit union operations, technology, regulatory considerations and the unique relationships between members, accounts, and loans.
Rather than adapting solutions originally developed for other industries, we're building technology, integrations and services specifically for credit unions.
And as HubSpot continues expanding its capabilities, we believe that level of specialization will become an increasingly important differentiator.
The data layer is becoming the real differentiator
The second part of Yamini's vision is particularly important for credit unions.
Some of the most valuable information about members lives outside HubSpot, within core systems, lending platforms, digital banking solutions and predictive analytics tools.
Without that information, credit unions are limited in how they can use HubSpot to personalize member experiences, automate processes and put AI to work.
That's exactly why we've invested so heavily in building the Nook Data Connector.
Our goal isn't simply moving information between systems. It's creating a standardized data foundation that makes credit union data actionable within HubSpot, enabling more personalized marketing, better member service, stronger lending opportunities and more effective AI.
As HubSpot continues expanding its capabilities, particularly around AI, this infrastructure will become even more important.
The most sophisticated CRM and AI tools in the world can only deliver value when they have access to the right data.
What credit unions should take away from UNBOUND
As HubSpot's presence in the credit union industry continues to grow, more technology partners will inevitably pursue opportunities in this market.
But not every partner brings the same capabilities.
When evaluating partners, credit unions should look beyond HubSpot certifications and implementation experience. They should understand whether a partner has genuine credit union expertise, established integrations with industry-specific technologies and the ability to build the data infrastructure necessary to support their long-term strategy.
As a CUSO focused exclusively on credit unions, we've built our business around the two capabilities Yamini’s comments highlighted: deep industry specialization and a robust data layer.
There is still plenty for us to build, but hearing HubSpot's vision reinforced the direction we've been pursuing from the beginning.
For credit unions, the takeaway from UNBOUND is clear: Choosing a HubSpot partner isn't just about who can implement the platform today. It's about who has the industry expertise and data infrastructure to help you take advantage of everything HubSpot is building tomorrow.
